Behind The Scenes with Photographer Josie Borain and Actress Kim Engelbrecht.

Josie Borain and I met up with Roddy Quin of Real Concerts at quaint Rose Cottage to shoot the publicity images for South Africa's rising star, actress Kim Engelbrecht. The setting seemed a little subtle seeing as the last time I saw Kim, she was running around a desolate landscape with a semi automatic weapon, in the American action TV series Dominion.  Kim arrived and as the day progressed, we found Kim to be fun and down to earth, which is a rare commodity for actresses who have worked with legends like Colin Firth and Helen Mirren. Josie Borain is the go-to photographer in South Africa for local and international actors and celebrities. She has photographed actor Jared Leto and actress Taryn Manning for Interview Magazine, and, being a celebrity herself, has documented countless high profile individuals over the years. In his motifs, Sivan Miller seeks the face of the 21st century. His feel for unique looking models, fashion, and locations all combine into cool portraits offering the beholder a new perspective on today’s world. In his choice of models, he looks for a certain “alien feeling”—for types that will take us on a trip to the near future. In doing so, Sivan often sets standards in the field of lifestyle photography.
Being discovered by the legendary talk-show host Oprah Winfrey propelled his career even further. Today, this young photographer belongs to the emerging masters of Fashion Photography. His sense for faces and his modern staging all make for a laid-back but also very secure visual vocabulary.

We love his aesthetic, yet somewhat lifestyle approach to his editorial work. He also has an incredible imagination which comes across in his highly styled, futuristic campaigns.
